Editorial policy
Coastal Film Culture aims to make considered, readable work about cinema and coastal places. We distinguish observation from interpretation and correct the record when we get something wrong.
Accuracy and interpretation
We check names, dates and other factual claims before publication and use sources suited to the subject. Film interpretation is not presented as settled fact: we explain what in the work supports a reading and leave room for other views. Where information is uncertain or a claim cannot be adequately checked, we qualify it or leave it out.
Independence and corrections
Editorial decisions are made for readers, not to secure favourable coverage for a partner. Commercial relationships do not determine our conclusions. If a published item contains a material error, we correct it and make the change clear in the item; readers can send correction requests through the Contact page.
Partner material
Paid or otherwise agreed partner material is labelled clearly so readers can distinguish it from editorial work. Partner placements are identified where they appear, and partners do not receive control over independent editorial coverage.
Images and tools
Some illustrations may be generated with AI. When an image is AI-generated, we label it as such. Illustrations are not offered as documentary evidence of a film, place or event.
The coast is never just a backdrop
A shoreline can set a mood, shape a story or quietly redirect what a character can do. We look for those choices without pretending every wave carries a hidden meaning.
